Learn how Startup Huddle is paving the way for entrepreneurs in Abuja, Nigeria.
Startup Huddle Abuja marked its one-year anniversary during Global Entrepreneurship Week 2022. Lilian Iwelu, a local leader in Abuja’s startup scene and local organizer for Startup Huddle Abuja, the second chapter to launch in Nigeria, hosted the chapter’s first event with support of the Abuja Enterprise Agency (AEA) during Global Entrepreneurship Week 2021.
Since launching, the chapter has engaged over 624 community members and attracted 15 entrepreneur speakers including those from Abuja and neighboring cities like Lagos, and countries like the United Kingdom and the United States. The program has provided a global platform for local founders across industries like fintech, tourism, fashion, IT, agriculture, SMEs, and Main Street. It is also a local convener for regional and local business support organizations and programs, providing space for grant and mentorship program providers like AEA to meet people right where they are.
Women represent 70% of those engaged through the program.
“Startup Huddle Abuja has shown tremendous impact, supporting entrepreneurs and providing loan and grant support, free access to customized business mentoring programs, brand visibility and unrestricted access to information and community engagement,” said Iwelu.
