The Lagos chapter of Startup Huddle, relaunching during Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2023 on November 16, has a history of fostering a supportive environment for entrepreneurs. Initially run by Cole Presley in 2022, the chapter has found energy and leadership with Uche Egbuna and Freda Anywanu, thanks to efforts by Olawale Anifowse, Managing Director for GEN Nigeria. This re-launch symbolizes a renewed commitment to nurturing the city’s vibrant startup scene.
Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital, contrasts with the more populous Lagos. As the political center of the nation, Abuja provides startups with unique access to policy-making and governmental support systems. The city’s Startup Huddle chapter, led by Lilian Iwelu, exemplifies this effort, having first launched with the support of the Abuja Enterprise Agency but has since led the effort with the support of the members. The chapter’s activities, including those scheduled for GEW, highlight Abuja’s role in shaping Nigeria’s overall entrepreneurial landscape and demonstrate the city’s commitment to empowering its startup community.
